Another fabulous Mardi Gras this year! The streets overflowed with Party Animals enjoying the rich cultural exchange that the French Quarter offers. The food was unbelievable, the booze was endless, and the music was incredible. Gluttony at it's very best. And, I have a few pictures.
Drew Carey was an outstanding King of Bacchus. He really worked hard to sign as many autographs as he could after he, Mimi and Oswald finished loading up at the Bacchus Brunch. I got him to sign one of my Right Wing Conspiracy Cards. After reading and signing it, he asked for another that he could keep. So, I guess he's signed up by now.
Al and I never got hooked up with Mark and his buddies. I was looking for a small group of fully clothed MSU students. Probably my mistake. But, I did get a few good photos.
Did I mention I have some pictures? But, where do I begin? Of all the sights, booze, beads, food and music at Mardi Gras, it's the people there that make it a unique experience. Here's a few of them from the streets of the French Quarter.
I had a good friend, Lee Cathy, at Multi-Image in LaGrange develop all my Mardi Gras pictures. Wal-Mart would probably have had me arrested with some of the shots I got this year. One of the biggest surprises in the seven rolls that were developed came when looking at the very last set of prints. It was a complete roll of the Village People performing at last years Rendezvous Ball. I knew there were photos unexplainably missing last year! Guess it came from the bottom of some pocket in my suitcase.
The weather was great for Mardi Gras and the
fabulous Bacchus beads were in high demand. From the second floor balcony at the
Hotel St. Marie (Toulouse and Dauphine, one block from Bourbon) the view was excellent.
The "Beads for Show" transactions were fast and frequent. The
appreciation for fine Bacchus beads scaled the entire socio-economic spectrum as my photos
will attest. Here are some payments that I just missed they were so quick.
If you think from this sampling you can guess
what all I photographed,
guess again!
You know, a good evening on the Balcony at
Mardi Gras requires the skills of a salesman, the nerve of a TV evangelist, and the
finesse of an experienced angler.
Here's some of what I caught.
